International Symposium
on Poetic Inquiry

The 8th International Symposium on Poetic Inquiry (ISPI) took place in Cape Town from the 24 - 27 May in 2022. It was a collaborative effort between the Human Sciences Research Council, the University of Kwa Zulu Natal, the Durban University of Technology and the University of the Witwatersrand

|Kx'am delivered a poetry performance by |Huuke Candice Harris with indigenous musical accompaniment by elder Garth Erasmus, as well as a presentation on !Ora as a Language and a Worldview" delivered by Chief Xammi from the Korana Links Royal House, unpacking the benefit of !Ora initiation practices in our current context. During the presentation we also taught a few phrases in !Ora. The poetry performed at this event is published in an ISPI anthology.
